Frequently asked questions
General
Metamaterials are artificially engineered materials designed to exhibit properties not commonly found in nature, primarily by controlling how they interact with waves like light, sound, or other electromagnetic radiation. These properties arise from the material's structure and the arrangement of its components, rather than solely from the properties of the constituent materials themselves.
EVOQ uses a patented high-energy laser ablation process to produce uniform sphere metamaterials. No chemical additives. No post-synthetic refinement.
The process runs continuously, producing metamaterials with consistent shape, size, and stability. These properties are engineered at the point of production. The material integrates into existing manufacturing workflows without major process changes.
EVOQ platform technology benefits many industries. Currently, core industries include: healthcare, medical devices, textiles, electronics, and energy storage industries. Beyond these sectors, EVOQ platform technology holds potential across dozens of industries, from creating allotropes of any solid metal to synthesizing metamaterials into diverse substances. Many applications remain undiscovered, which drives the invitation for external research teams to request materials, test integrations, and pioneer new products or processes. This collaborative approach accelerates innovation, turning material limitations into opportunities for scalable, safe, stable, and precise solutions.
The EVOQ platform is defined by four structural pillars:
- Shape: uniform spherical morphology. Smooth, non-faceted, formed directly at production without chemical additives.
- Size: highly consistent size profile, engineered at production without post-processing steps.
- Stability: engineered to maintain its structure. No coatings, no capping agents. Stability is built into the material at production.
- Scalability: the laser-based process enables consistent, scalable production without wet-chemistry batch processes.
These four properties are structural outcomes of how the material is made. They define the EVOQ platform.
EVOQ platform technology addresses scalability challenges through cost-effective, patented production processes that enable high-volume output without compromising precision or quality. It reduces costs, accelerates innovation cycles, and meets industry demands, allowing innovators to scale metamaterial applications efficiently for product creation and enhancement.
EVQ-218 is a new form of silver as classified by the American Chemical Society. EVQ-218 is a stable, non-emissive silver metamaterial with uniform spherical morphology. Stability is built into the material at production through short bond lengths. No capping agents. No detectable oxidative surface layer under characterized conditions.
In laboratory studies, EVQ-218 demonstrated broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity across 64+ bacterial, fungal, and mycobacterial isolates. No resistance was detected after 30 serial passages across all six ESKAPE pathogens under the conditions tested (Sakawa Sharif et al., Antibiotics 2026).
EVQ-218 maintains physicochemical integrity without capping agents under tested analytical conditions. Stability originates from the structural precision established during manufacturing.
Preclinical safety studies support continued development. In EPA-required testing, EVQ-218 met environmental and biocompatibility thresholds under GLP-compliant conditions (ISO 10993).
